Doug Beasley has built a strong reputation for building some of the best custom-made playing cues on the market. And, as you can see here, they look as good as they play. Some of the best players around have been playing with his cues, including the great champion Dennis Orcullo.

This one is a very traditional design, with an ebony butt sleeve and points and a birdseye maple nose. Doug is known to have one of the best and biggest caches of fine wood in existence, so he has some very fine woods from which to choose.

In keeping with the conservative approach he uses a series of notched mother-of-pearl diamonds and small dots.
|
He forms a rings around the butt sleeve just above the butt cap using small mother-of-pearl dots, then centers notched diamonds at the midpoint of the sleeve, each with two more MOP dots above and below.
|
He frames each of the long ebony points with a series of beautiful veneers that leave the overall impact of a gorgeous, mellow green.
|
It all comes together to create an alluring, old-school look.

The points are very long, thin and sharp.
|
A really close look at the veneers reveal the use of fiver layers - lime green, sea green, black, sea green and finally lime green again. At first glance the overall is just green, but there's a lot more going on than that. The color combination is subtle but striking.

The maple shows a combination of birdseye and curly grains as you look at it from different angles.
|
If you're not a fan of green, this cue may not be for you. But if you like a rich, deep green like the veneers in this one, look no further.

The veneer work is stunning.

He wraps it with very pretty and cushy-feeling Spanish bull black leather.

He uses a black LBM joint, and inlays a pretty ring built from a series of small and slightly larger MOP dots.

He inlays a small white oval with his well-known "DB" logo engraved in it.
It comes with two 13mm premium maple shafts with LBM ferrules and Whitten medium layered tips.

It is built with a 3/8 X 10 steel pin in a flat-faced joint. It weighs 18.9 ounces (15.1, 3.8, 3.8) and is 59 inches long.
This is a great playing stick made by one of the rising stars in the custom cue business. His work is always tight and meticulous, his wood choices excellent and his finishes are always bright and highly polished.
