RICHARD BLACK 8-POINT
THUYA BURL, EBONY
AND MAPLE

This is a "pre-owned" Richard Black, but for the most part, it is still unplayed.  It has two original 12.5mm shafts that look almost new, and two brand new 13.0mm shafts made by Richard just this past year.  The butt is in good shape.  It's a very pretty cue reflecting Richard's artistry, yet still traditional.
Richard's choice of burl woods is always interesting.  In this cue, he chose Thuya burl, and uses it beautifully with ebony and ivory.  He uses the burl against a nose of exquisitely figured birdseye maple, and in the butt sleeve starts with ebony, and inlays squares of the same burl outlined and inlaid with ivory.

His inlay work is excellent in this cue, and the choice of contrasting woods results in a nice looking stick.

Richard adds further detail to this cue with the addition of some nice, clean ringwork of small ivory checks above and below the wrap, at the joint and on the shafts.  And, as with most Black cues, the joint protectors are very special.

Richard always does things with a touch of class, and in this case, he presented this cue with a black leather Ron Thomas case specially made and embossed with a bold "B" for Black.  And as almost always, the cue is signed and dated by him.  He finishes this cue with a piloted ivory joint, and the ivory is gorgeous - creamy and figured.
This stick is the whole package - four shafts, fancy joint protectors, special Thomas case, exquisite workmanship and design.  Richard said the retail on this cue is $5,000 if you ordered it today.  And that's without the extra shafts, which were just made at a cost of $450.  Because it has some age on it, and two of the shafts have been slightly used, and because I got into this in a trade, I'm able to offer this for $3950, with the Thomas case.  (The case alone is worth $300.)  This cue is a bargain!!
