Chris Byrne is one of those cue makers who does outstanding work and makes very few cues. It varies from year to year, but typically 12-15 cues a year is about all that comes out of his shop - sometimes even less. He's a busy guy, with a lot of balls in the air - cue maker, watch maker, gun smith, precision long-distance shooter and competitor, full-time exotic car mechanic and father of two little girls who keep him very busy. It's amazing he has time to build any cues at all, but when he does, they're always worth buying.

I had a chance to get two "Sneaky Petes" from him recently, one in ebony and maple, and another in east Indian rosewood and maple. Here is one of them.

He builds his own blanks and the points are sharp and even.

He dresses each one up a bit with its own unique set of rings. The overall cue is still very subtle and under the radar, but they give it a very cool look.

This one has rings made from two sets of thin brass rings inlaid in black with a white ring between them.

He signs each one under the finish between the points.
|
Each one comes with one shaft with matching ringwork, Juma ferrules and layered black Kamui tips. It weighs 19.5 (15.4, 4.1) and is 59 inches long. It's built with a brass radial pin and a white Supertusk joint.

| This is a very pretty, simple cue that shows off Chris' ability to make a great playing cue along with his impeccable taste for small details that make it special. It's a great everyday playing cue, or perhaps your "take it to league night" cue.
