ARIEL CARMELI
SIX POINT
EBONY ON EBONY
WITH BLUE VENEERS
WITH ABALONE
Here is another monster cue built by Ariel Carmeli. Since moving his shop from California to Virginia, resulting in about a six or seven month hiatus from working on cues, he has been turning out some beauties.
Like always, the sticks from his new shop hit a ton. He has a reputation for building some of the best-playing cues on the market, and this one fulfills those expectations.
This is an ebony on ebony six point with striking veneers and brilliant inlays.
The inlay work is all from resplendent natural abalone outlined in white LBM.
I love this pattern of spearheads, quarter moons and ovals. The individual pieces come together beautifully, proving the whole is better than the sum of its parts.
He builds it with his favorite, and almost "signature" rings. Each ringset consists of two silver rings tied together with intermittent white LBM diamonds.
The color and mosaic patterns in this abalone is incredible - luminous and stunning.
He frames the ebony points in beautiful veneer work. The blue in the veneers is the perfect accent to the blues and greens of the abalone.
The actual colors are blue, violet and white, but the overall effect at arms-length is very blue.
And of course, the points are all long, sharp and even.
| |
Everything in this cue comes together in a special way to create a masterful overall design.
He uses the gorgeous rings at all locations - above the butt cap, below and above the wrap, at the joint and on the ring collars of the shafts.
A close-up of the gorgeous veneers ...
He adds a short white LBM joint to match the white butt cap.
And another look at this luscious abalone ...
He wraps the handle with a nicely textured black Scotch leather that looks perfect on this cue.
It comes with two premium 13mm shafts with LBM melamine ferrules and Whitten medium layered tips.
| |
It's built with a stainless steel 3/8 X 10 modified pin in a flat-faced joint. It weighs 18.4 ounces (14.7, 3.7, 3.7) and is 58 inches long. It is made with a female receiver for an extension.
This is a stunning cue that is beautiful to look at and made to play!
