ARIEL CARMELI
FANCY EIGHT POINT
AMBOYNA BURL AND EBONY
WITH PAUI SHELL INLAY

This is a beautiful eight point cue from Ariel Carmeli, built from some luscious amboyna burl and gorgeous, deep black ebony.  The points are veneered in striking white, and the butt sleeve is intricately inlaid with white LBM and Paui shell.  This is a cue that will get everyone's attention.  More important, however, is the excellent playability of this stick.  Carmeli has an outstanding reputation for building cues that have a great hit.

As one of Ariel's only dealers, this is one of the last cues I expect to receive from him for some time.  He is closing his shop in California this month (January) and relocating in Virginia.  It will take him a few months to get up and running again.  This cue, and perhaps three others, will be the last cues from his California shop.

The pattern in this butt sleeve is incredibly intricate and complicated.  In spite of the large number of small inlays, the work is meticulous and very tight.  And the abalone highlights make it a lavish, ornate design.

This is really an eye-catching design.  With the captivating butt sleeve design, the long amboyna burl points, shadow points of ebony, and striking white veneers, it is truly a classy cue.

He uses one of his signature ring patterns throughout this stick.  It's comprised of two white rings with interlocking stylized white diamonds (all of elforyn).  He uses it above the butt cap, below and above the wrap, at the joint and on the rings collars of the shafts.

The inlay pattern in the butt sleeve is very intricate, and the work is all tight and clean.

As with most his cues these days, he engraves a permanent AC logo in the white elforyn butt cap.

The abalone inlays add an ornate touch of class throughout the design.

The clean, white, black, white veneer colors provide a strong separation between the beautiful amboyna burl points and the sheer black ebony in the nose.  It's a very striking contrast.

As always, his points are long, even and very sharp.

As an important aesthetic detail, he adds a white, elforyn joint that matches the butt cap.

Excellent veneer work throughout.

He finishes it with a black, scotch textured leather wrap.  It looks good, and feel just right in the hand.

He builds it with a flat-faced, wood to wood joint with a 3/8X10 modified steel pin.  It comes with two 13mm premium maple shafts with nice, tight grain, short Juma ferrules and Triangle tips.  It weighs  18.6 ounces (15.0, 3.6, 3.6)and is 58 inches long.  This is a great hitting cue that will make any pool player very proud of the cue he's using.
