Here is a very pretty traditionally designed cue with an ebony butt sleeve and points into a birdseye maple nose. It's made unique, however, by the delicate and classy ringwork used in several locations throughout the stick.

Cody is one of the excellent young cuemakers in what I think is the new generation of master cue builders. He has been building good, solid cues for a number of years which have been well-received. But over the last two to three years he has stepped up the level of his work and while still building basic player cues, he is also now building higher-end cues in a different price point, making them more ornate but still at an affordable price.

I alway like cue builders who are also good players. Cody is a very competitive player who knows how a good cue should feel, and builds them accordingly.

This cue has a very traditional look, some distinctive cosmetic features, and is just a great looking stick overall.
|
The butt sleeve is especially nice with a deep black ebony backdrop, decorated with sleek white LBM spearheads going in opposite directions with a small white dot and two silver arcs tieing them together in the middle. Then at each end he adds the gorgeous silver rings.

The forearm is simple and elegant - four long points of ebony, bridged with alluring veneer work and simple inlay in the base of each. All of this is built into a pretty birdseye maple front.

Finally, he frames the entire forearm at both ends with the elegant silver ringwork.
|
This is not easy work. The silver wire rings are delicate and the work is precise. It's not the kind of work an average cuemaker can, or will even try, to do. And the way the white spearhead inlays are finely tapered and expertly inserted shows how Cody's skills have evolved.

The bridged points also demonstrate the extent to which his work has progressed. Again, this isn't the work of a beginner. These squared-off veneer corners are difficult work.

| I particularly like the way all the different "pieces" of this cue come together above and below the handle. It's a masterful design.
|
When viewing the cue in its entirety you get the full appreciation of how well all these parts contribute to the classy, elegant cue this becomes.

He uses a combination of brown, dark blue and light blue veneers to frame the sleek points.

The points are especially long, with sharp, even tips.

He finishes it off with a handle wrapped in beautiful black ringtail lizard leather.

He builds it with a white LBM joint, again using the silver wire ring to highlight it.

I'm very impressed with the quality of his work - the delicate silver work, the bridged veneer work, and the preciseness of his inlays. You'd have to use a magnifying class to even find a glue line around these thin, perfectly placed inlays.

He builds it with a 3/8 X 10 steel pin in a flat-faced joint. It comes with two of his premium tight-grained maple shafts with matching ringwork. It weighs 19 ounces (15.4, 3.6, 3.6) and is 58 inches long.

Finally, it is fitted for a Migliore style extension, which can be purchased separately if needed.
This is a classy cue by a top builder, and it is made to play. His cues are difficult to come by - don't pass it up!
