CODY CASH (PK)
FOUR POINT CUE IN
SPALDED TAMARIND & CURLY MAPLE

Cody Cash is from Wichita, Kansas, where he's been making his line of PK cues for a number of years.   His work just keeps getting better, and he's now a member of the American Cuemakers Association and this year for the first time he displayed cues at the big Super Expo, where I was fortunate to be able to hand pick a few of what I think were his best cues.  This was one of them.

This is a basic four point cue and what first attracted me to it was the unique piece of Spalded Tamarind that makes up most of it.  The grain and color of the wood is as good as it gets, and this is truly an appealing and attractive cue.

While the butt sleeve and points are both made of Tamarind, the nose of the cue is a pretty stained curly maple.  It's a great combination of the two woods.

I always like it when a cuemaker is also a good player.   He knows what he likes in the hit of a cue, and can fine tune the finished product and make the necessary adjustments to make it a fine playing instrument.  This cue not only looks good, but it hits really well.

Each of the long Tamarind points is framed with a nice selection of veneers - black, white, black, yellow, black and blue.  It's a nice combination.

Personally I love woods with lots of grain, color and character.  Spalded Tamarind is one of my favorites, and this is about as good a piece as I've seen.

His points are long, even and sharp.

The veneer work in this cue is excellent and really highlights the contrast between the two woods.

He uses an exquisite piece of corduvan brown lizard for the handle, and it is the perfect accent to the colors in the woods.

I like the color scheme in this cue, and the reddish brown rings above and below the wrap serve both as an accent color as well as bringing everything else together.

He builds all his cues with a 3/8X10 pin, this one in brass.  He uses a white LBM sleeve over wood at the joint, adds another reddish brown ring for continuity.

He uses a matching reddish butt cap with a white ring above, reminiscent of the old "Hoppe" style butts.  And as always, he engraves his PK logo.
This one come with two 13mm premium maple shafts with matching ring collars, Juma ferrules and medium LePro tips. It is 58 inches long and weighs 17.0 ounces (13.4, 3.6, 3.6).  This is a very pretty cue for a great price.
