Most cue enthusiasts are familiar with the name John Davis. He has been known for many years as the maker of superior full splice blanks. They have been sold widely to many cuemakers, as well as to cue addicts who have bought the blanks and then had their favorite cuemaker use them to make their own special custom cue. His reputation for these blanks goes far and wide. Originally working with Burton Spain, he bought Spain's business in 1967 or 1968, and continued making blanks for top cuemakers, including, until 1973, George Balabushka. Many of the Bushkas in collections today are made from Davis blanks.
So, enter Tim Prince. Tim, another former tool and die maker, has been making cues for 15 years or so. Frequently, he utilized Davis blanks. I have watched his work for the past 3-4 years, and his designs and craftsmanship has been excellent, and continuously getting better.
Now, it seems that it was destined that their friendship would end in a partnership. Today, they are working collaboratively to build "Davis-Prince Cues." I recently had the opportunity to take a thorough look at a good sampling of their work, and was very impressed with the quality of construction and finish, and the design and overall look of their cues.
I think this is a partnership that has a solid foundation and these two excellent craftsmen will continue to build outstanding cues together. I am very pleased that Recollection Cues is now a dealer for them and will be displaying and selling their work on the website.
