ROBERTO FRANCO
WRAPLESS EBONY MERRY WIDOW
WITH TULIPWOOD HANDLE
WITH FINE SILVER INLAYS
This is another very appealing cue from Roberto, highlighting some particularly pretty woods. It is built from a piece of very nice Gabon ebony and a piece of highly figured tulipwood.
It is built in a merry widow style design (no points) and relies primarily on the beauty and selection of the woods for its appeal and elegance.
Roberto's cues are built to play, and this one has a nice solid hit, depending a lot on the high density ebony for its great feel and feedback.
He does a nice job of dressing it up a bit with the addition of fine silver notched diamond inlays arranged to create subtle and exquisite rings at key locations.
This tulipwood is beautiful. It has some of the best color I've seen in tulipwood, and is nicely figured with distinctive grain patterns. Everybody has their favorites when it comes to woods, but tulipwood is always one of my top choices.
It's somewhat difficult in cue construction to put two different woods butted up against each other and have a clean line of demarcation between the two. He does an excellent job managing this issue. The line is clean and distinct.
When seen in person, this cue really catches your eye. It's a very handsome with a clean and classy look, and it's built to be a great everyday player for some lucky player.
Here is a nice view of the tulipwood in the handle from two 180 degree different perspectives.
Very delightful and colorful wood ...

With nice attention to detail, he engraves his logo in the rubber bumper.
Laying the silver notched diamonds end to end is a unique way of forming rings, and they look very classy in this stick.
He builds this cue with a stainless steel radial pin in a flat-faced joint. It comes with one keelwood shaft that is made from some very dark keelwood. These shafts hit nicely and have very low deflection. The shaft measures 12.65mm at the ferrule, and with a conical taper gets steadily and slightly thicker as you move down its length.
Roberto does an excellent job of displaying his very attractive logo on his cues. In this one he inlays it in silver in the butt and in ebony in the base of the shaft.
It weighs 19.4 ounces (16.2, 3.4) and is 58 inches long. It has an elforyn ferrules with a medium Thoroughbred tip.
