In recent years one of the cues that I most often receive requests for are Judds. Built by Judd Fuller throughout the 1980s and early 2000s, they were the player's choice by many top players, particularly the Filippinos, and especially Efren Reyes.

This one, built in 2012, came from the Judd shop in Yellow Jacket, Colorado. It's a simple merry widow design (no points) made from pretty birdseye maple, wiith a solid black Gabon ebony handle, and simple silver rings - no frills, just built to play, and show some pretty wood at the same time.

As many requests as I get for Judds, they seldom turn up on the secondary market. People that have them use them and keep them. They don't seem to be inclined to give them up. Here's a chance to get one in good condition.

I'm not going to go into a lot of detail on Judd Fuller himself. To learn more about him and his history of cue-building, go to my adjacent listing on the other Judd I have for sale on this site where I do go into a lot of detail. I will say here, however, that he was a top cue builder of his era. Because of the huge following of the Filipino pool community, his cues were always in high demand. And because it was well-known that Judd's cues were the personal choice of the best player in the world at the time - the Magician Efren Reyes - Judd's waiting list for custom builds was always a year or two long.

The maple is curly in some areas, and shows nice birdseye effect in others.

He adds some double-silver rings, lined with small squares of reddish-brown wood lined with more silver.

The Gabon ebony in the handle is rich, deep and very black.

He uses the rings above the butt cap, at the bottom and top of the wrap, at the joint and on the ring collars of the shafts.

The joint is ivory, with nice warm tone and it shows obvious grain.

It comes with two original Judd maple shafts with LBM ferrules and layered tips. As typical with so many of the Judds, the shafts are relatively thin. In this case, they each measure about 11.9 mm. (Because everyone seemed to know that Efren preferred thin shafts and that's what he required from Judd, many buyers wanted similar sized shafts.)

I don't know all the history on this cue, so don't know why the two ferrules are slightly different lengths. It's likely, however, that it's the result of a repair issue. Neither ferrule is ivory, but the material is different on each. One shaft has barely been played and you have to really look for signs of it. The other shows signs of play, but has been nicely cleaned and is in very good condition. This cue is ready for serious play. So if you like wrapless cues and shafts on the thin side, this is a good choice. Or, put your favorite CF shaft on it and start running racks.

The butt weighs 15.45 ounces, and the shafts weigh 3.4 and 3.6, so the total weight depends on which shaft is used - either about 18.85 or 19.05. It is 58 inches long. Overall the cue is in good condition - the finish is still nice and there are no significant dings, dents or scratches.
This is very nice player's cue that is also very collectible, in good condition and very much in demand.
