KIKEL FOUR-POINT
CINNAMON BURL & EBONY

This is another great cue from Dave Kikel.  It's a simple, four point design, but as usual, Dave makes it special with his choices of rare, exotic woods.  He loves to choose unusual woods and use their natural colors to create great effects.  By doing so, he makes simple designs special.  This is a very subtle cue that has a lot of class for the price.  And, as always with Kikel cues, it plays great.

He starts this cue with a butt sleeve of ebony and a nose of  cinnamon burl.  He adds four ebony points which provide a nice contrast with the burl.  Then he adds some very pretty checkered ringwork, and a beautiful honey-brown textured leather wrap which all go together nicely.  The wrap and rings add just the right amoung of color to bring this cue together in a very elegant way.

Dave finished this cue off with a flat-faced joint and radial pin, and two LBM ferrules with Kamui tips -- one brown, one black.  I didn't get this cue straight from Dave, so I can't say it's unplayed.  However, it appears to be new, and I'll say it's "98%", or in "near mint" condition.  I'm selling it for $1450, and it's a lot of cue for that money.

NOTE:  Just to give an example of the quality that goes into Dave's cues, I want to tell you about the wood in his shafts.  Over ten years ago he found what he believed to be an exceptional quality wood, and bought over 4000 blanks over a period of time.  Each year he now selects 300 pieces to begin turning down for shafts, and ends up with 125-150 after he culls out those he's not satisfied with, based on grain, color, etc.  He takes his time and stays about two seasons ahead so that the process is not rushed.  So, all his shafts are the best of the best, and all have aged over ten years before the first cut.
