KIKEL QUILTED MAPLE
 AND WENGE CUE

Another great cue by Dave Kikel.  One of the best things about Dave is his great selection of woods, and this cue is a good example.  He started this cue with a quilted maple nose and butt sleeve, and completed it with Wenge points and rectangles.  It all results in a knock-out cue, and is a great example of Dave's work.

Wenge is a rare wood that at one time was considered "endangered" and comes from Africa, primarily from the Congo, Cameroon and Gabon, and is frequently used in music instruments and archery bows.  It is sometimes called African or Congolese Rosewood.
He made this into a six point cue (three long, three short), which I think was a good choice because it allows lots of room for the Wenge to work.  He also uses large rectangles in the butt sleeve, which again, gives the Wenge lots of exposure, showing off the incomparable figure in its grain.
He added nice rings made from jeweler's bronze with Wenge bands in-between.  These are a nice complement to the cue, and give it just enough "flash."  He also adds a nice brown leather wrap with a delicate texture that looks good and feels great to the touch.

He finishes the cue with elforyn ferrules and sumo tips.  It comes with two 13mm shafts, and weighs 18.9 ounces.  Like all Kikels, it hits a ton.
