PK CUE BY CODY CASH
EBONY & MAPLE FOUR POINT
WITH BRIDGED POINTS,
SHADOW POINTS AND SILVER
Here's another beautiful stick built by Cody Cash in Wichita. He's been making cues with more complex designs the last couple of years, and this one is a good example. It's one of the nicest cues I've seen come out of his shop.
This is an ebony and maple cue - an ebony butt sleeve with four long points of ebony, smaller ebony "shadow" points and a maple nose.
The pattern in the butt sleeve is balanced and detailed. He starts with some silver veneered ovals and then inlays a complex floral pattern of white elforyn, with highlights of small red diamonds and flowers.
He outlines the long points with red and white veneers separated with black paper, and the bridges them at the bottoms. There's a lot of thought in this design, and a lot of work as well.
He adds delicate silver rings with small white inlays reminiscent of the larger floral patter in the butt sleeve, and inlays small red diamonds within each one, forming a very classy ring pattern.
Between the four long points he inlays shorter, shadow points, each carefully inlaid with long silver veneers.
At the base of each long point he inlays an elongated Fleur d'Lis pattern in white.
He uses the fancy ringwork above the butt cap, below and above the handle, at the joint and on the ring collars of the shafts.
At the top of each shadow point he stretches them into ebony spearheads with more silver inlay.
There's a lot of silver work in this cue, and it's very effectively throughout the design.
He expertly wraps the handle with a piece of black elephant ear leather.
| |
The hard rock maple in the nose is nicely toned and figured.
The points are long, even, and very sharp.
He builds it with a white Juma joint to match the white Juma butt cap.
His PK logo is engraved in the butt cap. (He uses these initials of his son as his logo.)
| |
It's built with a 3/8 X 10 steel pin in a flat-faced joint. It weighs 19.05 with either shaft (15.3, 3.75, 3.75) and is 58 inches long. Both shafts are maple with Juma ferrules and LePro tips.
| It comes with a pretty matching set of joint caps of ebony and white Juma. This is a very snazzy cue from a solid, up and coming cue maker who's work is going to continue to improve and impress, with increasing values as time goes on. He's also a very good player who knows how to build a cue that plays extremely well.
