There's nothing like a truly unique and unusual cue made by one of the best cue makers to help fill out a collection. This cue is one of my favorite Tim Scruggs' creations.
|
This cue was one of six made for the first "Gallery of Cue Art" show held in New York in 1995 -- attended by many celebrity collectors, including Richard Dreyfus and Steven Spielberg. The complete set was sold by Tim to the late Bob Huddleston of St. Louis and kept in Bob's private collection until 2003, when it was sold to me.

This stick is personally numbered "1 of 1" and signed by Tim. It begins with a curly maple nose and a solid five inch ivory butt sleeve. It has four floating points of ebony, inlaid with ivory, turquoise and 14k gold in the nose, while the ivory butt sleeve has a unique and very attractive pattern made of ebony, turquoise and gold.
|
It is finished with a white Irish linen wrap with black specks. Above and below the joint is a simple ebony ring in a unique design that enhances the overall look of the cue. It has fancy checkered ivory ringwork above and below the solid ivory piloted joint, and comes with two 13mm ivory ferruled shafts. It is in NEW condition (never played), but has a very, very minute crack in the ivory ring just above the wrap -- barely visible without a magnifier. (Fixing it would require altering the original design, and since this is a collectable, and was pictured in several magazines and advertisements, I don't want to alter its originality. However, I AM adjusting the price accordingly.)

The butt sleeve of this cue is solid ivory, but is not one piece. Upon close inspection, you can see that Tim used a long ivory sleeve with an ivory butt plate in combination. In this way, if you break or chip the butt cap, the whole ivory butt is not ruined.
The design, materials and colors in this cue come together to give it a southwest or perhaps even a Mayan or Incan flavor. To carry this theme throughout its presentation, it is housed in a vintage blue leather Kelly case. This cue just begs to be held and enjoyed.
