TONKIN OLIVE BURL 4-POINT

As soon as I saw this cue in Pete's booth at the Super Billiards Expo I had to have it.  It's a fairly simple cue - nothing over the top - but its clean lines and simplistic design, complemented by his great choice of woods, make it a good choice for a buyer with a distinctive eye looking for a modestly priced cue.

Pete told me he started this cue with a huge burl stump that he thought he'd get a number of cues from, but when he split it, it turned out he could only get one cue.  But, it was worth the effort.  This wood is beautiful.

You can see from the two pictures above the unusual character of this unusual piece of wood.  (Please excuse the color differences between the two pictures - it's due to my lighting, not the cue.)  As you roll the cue, the wood has a different look from different viewing points.
I think Pete did a nice job of keeping this cue simple in design and letting the natural beauty of the wood carry the water, so to speak.  He used a simple four point design with some basic veneer work (black, reddish orange, orange and yellow), and then added some very classy ringwork.  Notice that Pete doesn't spare work in the details.  His rings are not just checks of wood and ivory with a silver ring on each side.   He adds silver between each check, essentially surrounding each small check with silver.  You have to take time to notice it, but this kind of detail is one of the reasons his cues are zooming to the top.
He finishes it all with a nice black elephant print leather wrap that is applied flawlessly.  This cue comes with two 13mm shafts and weighs 18.4 oz.  It also sports ivory ferrules with some great grain, tipped with Kamui softs.

I'm very happy to be able to offer this cue for $1625.  It's a great value at that price, and a cue anyone can be proud of.  It's a real eye-catcher.
