TREADWAY
NEW MEXICAN MARBLEWOOD
MERRY WIDOW

This is another merry widow style cue from Josh Treadway, this time made from marblewood.  He dresses it up with fancy rings and a nice leather wrap, making it a reasonably priced "player" that has the same great hit as all the other Treadways.

This piece of wood was found in a wood store in New Mexico.  However, appears to be Figured Marblewood, which comes from Northeastern South America.  It comes from a type of acacia tree from the rainforest.  It is similar to African Zebrawood, but has a finer texture.  It is a dense wood, and not the easiest to work with, but is highly desireable in furniture and fine woodworking and wood turning.  As you can tell from the finished product, it's a unique piece of wood.

He adds black and white check rings (juma and ebony) between two thin white rings, all mounted in an overall ring of black phenolic.  He puts them at all locations, including above the butt cap, below and above the wrap, at the joint and on the shaft ring collars.

He builds in a black phenolic butt cap with a matching black phenolic joint sleeve, over wood.  He uses a stainless steel radial pin in a flat-faced joint configuration, insuring a good, solid hit.

This is a very pretty cue made from unusual wood, by a great cuemaker.  It weighs 19.0 ounces and comes with two 13mm shafts of premium maple.  He wraps it in a black lizard print leather.  It has juma ferrules and Triangle tips.
